Educational Philosophy

Great Commission International Theological Seminary  (GCITS) exists to shape hearts, sharpen minds, and strengthen the capabilities of Spirit-empowered leaders for both practical ministry and academic service, so that the Great Commission is fulfilled. Scripture presents discipleship and instruction as central to God’s design for forming His people. At the core of the Church’s mission, teaching is a primary ministry calling. Ephesians 4:11 describes Christ’s gifts of ministry leadership to the Church, and Ephesians 4:12 explains the aim of those gifts: to equip the saints for ministry and to build up the body of Christ. Therefore, GCITS embraces its role as an educational instrument through which God strengthens His Church—equipping and edifying Christ’s Body—so that graduates may pursue the Great Commission with faithfulness, competence, and Holy Spirit power.

GCITS also affirms that the Gospel’s depth and complexity require a strong, flexible, and multi-faceted educational approach. This commitment to diverse learning methods supports our mission to form Spirit-empowered leaders at the level of character, thinking, and practice. Scripture shows that instruction happens through clear teaching and also through life-on-life formation. For this reason, GCITS fosters a learning environment distinguished by: (1) diverse instructional methods, (2) intentional mentoring relationships grounded in discipleship, and (3) experiential training through multicultural outreach and contextual practicums aligned with each student’s God-given calling.

Great Commission Theological Seminary of America (GCITS) maintains that the New Testament establishes a clear classical Pentecostal distinctiveness for vocational, bi-vocational, and lay ministry. This conviction directly supports our commitment to develop Spirit-empowered leaders. Following Acts 2, the New Testament consistently depicts ministry as enabled, directed, and evidenced by the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, GCTSA affirms—openly and without compromise—a biblical, traditional, classical Pentecostal framework across coursework, curriculum, and instruction, embracing the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit in the contemporary Church.

From this biblical Pentecostal standpoint, GCTSA defines classical Pentecostalism as including a subsequent work of grace, commonly called the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, with the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. The gifts of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2; 1 Corinthians 12; 14), given by Christ’s direction and empowered for mission (Acts 1:8; 2:1), shape our ministry identity and energize the calling of our students as they pursue God’s purpose for their lives.

GCTS affirms that the Bible is absolute in authority, complete in truth, and fully sufficient for faith and life. Scripture serves as the final standard for belief and daily living and speaks with enduring relevance to every generation—past, present, and future. This conviction concerning Scripture’s inerrancy and infallibility forms a foundational pillar of GCTSA’s mission to cultivate hearts and form minds in Spirit-empowered leaders. Accordingly, we believe the Holy Scriptures provide reliable and lasting answers to the most urgent spiritual and social challenges faced by every society.

On the basis of these commitments, Great Commission Theological Seminary of America (GCTSA) trains and disciples future Christian leaders with the following guiding convictions:

  • Love and respect for all people, with unwavering obedience to Christ.
GCTSA affirms the biblical mandate to love and honor all people. Our instruction equips students to reach every people group—regardless of age, gender, or perspective. At the same time, we uphold Christ’s call to love God through obedience to His commands. Therefore, we teach students to show genuine love and respect without surrendering, diluting, or reshaping biblical truth where Scripture speaks plainly, interpreted through a traditional, literal approach.
  • Spiritual discernment and Christlike witness, rejecting racism and hatred as sin.
GCTS develops Pentecostal students who represent Jesus with integrity and spiritual discernment in their communities. We recognize racism and hatred as sins of the heart that oppose both God’s Word and God’s love. Christ’s ministry illustrates this, and the outpouring of the Spirit in Acts 2 confirms that the Holy Spirit was given without discrimination to all who were present. We define equality first by Scripture: all people are created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), and the redeemed are purchased by Christ’s blood (Revelation 7:9). Because Scripture commands love of neighbor (Matthew 22:39), we reject attempts to weaken or redefine biblical equality through cultural trends, popular ideologies, or shifting social movements.
  • Compassionate engagement with communities through rigorous formation and practical ministry.
GCTSA trains students to understand their communities and serve in ways that magnify God’s glory. We affirm compassion, grace, and meeting genuine needs as essential expressions of Christ’s love. Students are formed through serious classroom instruction and through outreach opportunities and supervised practicums that apply Scripture to real ministry settings. We also train students to evaluate cultural movements and philosophies through a traditional, conservative biblical worldview, preserving faithful biblical application in modern contexts.
  • Biblical advocacy with Christlike posture—rejecting hatred, division, offense, hostility, and dishonor.
GCTSA believes Christians and Gospel ministers should advocate for God’s will and God’s heart for people with conviction and Christlike character. While we remain attentive to community concerns, we refuse partnerships with groups or causes that promote: hatred rather than love (Matthew 5:43–48), division rather than unity (John 17), offense rather than forgiveness (Matthew 18:21–22), hostility rather than peacemaking (James 3:18), and dishonor rather than the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:13–26).

In summary, Great Commission Theological Seminary of America (GCTS) exists to cultivate hearts, form minds, and develop skills of Spirit-empowered leaders for practical and academic ministry in fulfillment of the Great Commission. We champion the formation of Spirit-filled servants who lead effectively in church ministry and beyond, grounded in biblical truth and faithful contemporary practice. We stand unapologetically upon a biblical foundation, a classical Pentecostal identity, and biblically defined traditional values—convictions woven throughout all curriculum and instruction.

If you want, I can also do the next step and refine the wording so it sounds more “seminary” than “university” (for example changing phrases like “college” or adjusting the tone to be more formal and theological).

Absolutely. Here is the revised version with Great Commission University of America / GCUA changed to Great Commission Theological Seminary / GCTS, along with related wording adjusted for consistency and clarity.
